Our Schools

Every school in our nation needs to be
an “oasis of peace.” Our
society needs a new way of thinking about
what it means to be an educated person.
We need a vision of education that recognizes
that the ability to manage our emotions,
resolve conflicts nonviolently and interrupt
biases are fundamental skills that can
and must be taught in our schools. Through
the internationally acclaimed Resolving
Conflict Creatively Program, co-founded
by Linda Lantieri and Tom Roderick, thousands
of teachers and children are waging peace
in their schools with powerful effects.
The following articles explore the possibilities
and practicalities of creating such caring
learning communities in our schools.
